Dissertation award
The GI-Department Datenbanken und Informationssysteme awards outstanding dissertation theses in the area of concepts, techniques and applications of databases and information systems. This year's BTW dissertation award was endowed with 2500 Euros sponsored by IBM Germany.
The award went to Christian Mathis (TU Kaiserslautern) for his dissertation Storing, Indexing, and Querying XML Documents in Native Database Management Systems.
Demo award
As part of the demo program of the BTW 2011 conference the best demo has been rewarded with 1000 Euros sponsored by Fachbereich Datenbanken und Informationssysteme.
The award went to Jens Teubner und Louis Woods (ETH Zürich) for their demo Snowfall: Hardware Stream Analysis Made Easy.
Student award
